Justice Development and Peace Initiative (JDPI), Ekiti Diocese, a subsidiary of the Catholic Diocese of Ekiti was established in 1972 and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Federal Republic of Nigeria on the 6th day of August 2009 with Certificate Registration No: CAC/IT/NO34159 as a Non-governmental and non-profit Organisation. It is also registered with the Ministry of Women Affairs, Youth and Development, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria on 26th June 2006 with Certificate Registration No: W.A.D. 37/001 and can receive foreign aid and grants from international agencies.
It
is a social arm of the Church committed
to the implementation of the Catholic Social teachings
with the aim of holistic enlightenment and empowerment of all people
in order to enshrine the culture of justice and peace in the world.
It
is saddled with the responsibility of responding to the social and
humanitarian needs of all persons in Ekiti State with particular
consideration for the poor, marginalized, abandoned and the
underprivileged.
A
Non-Governmental Organization committed to creating awareness and
advocating on issues of Justice, Development, peace, politics, Human
Rights, preventive Health, Agricultural and Rural Development
programmes (Organic
and Sustainable Agriculture),
Water,
Sanitation and Hygiene, Micro Credit Scheme, Women
and Youth Empowerment as well as other issues of common concern.
Justice
Development and Peace Initiative (JDPI) is a grassroot, non-profit,
social justice support, empowerment and development organization with
a mission to provide opportunities for self-transformation,
leadership, good governance and community building to all, especially
women and leaders, within a safe, improved and meaningful social
justice system. JDPI organizes and implements programmes and projects
in Ekiti State that create enabling environment, promote true
development, develop equality and diversity, enhance cultural
dynamism and understanding, facilitate more equitable access to
resources and provide agro-financial support towards capacity
enhancement.
Principal Activities:
The Articles of Incorporation states that the Aim and Objectives of the (JDPI Ekiti) shall include:
To enhance and sustain a prophetic action for the promotion of Justice, Development and Peace in the society;
To educate and empower the marginalized, impoverished and abandoned people in our society to participate in their own liberation and development.
