It was an atmosphere of glitz and glamour as management and staff of Justice, Development and Peace Initiative, JDPI, of the Catholic Diocese of Ekiti celebrated the 25th Priesthood Anniversary of Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Akingbade.
Rev. Akingbade, who doubles as the Director of JDPI in Ekiti State, was awesomely celebrated in a colourful and low-key ceremony on Monday, 31st July, 2023 at JDPI office in Ado-Ekiti.
At the end of the exciting ceremony, there were gifts presentations to Rev. Fr. Akingbade such as a big wall picture frame of him, pairs of shoes, pair of suit and other items.
Earlier, Rev. Fr. Akingbade held a thanksgiving mass celebrating his 25th Priesthood Anniversary with members of staff of JDPI where he admonished them to always pray for their Priests.
In his homily where he read the Gospel according to Matthew 13:31, he noted that the greatest gift from the Lord God to humanity is priesthood.
His words: “If we say this as the human nature of Jesus Christ that is to tell us that no matter how big the priest is, they are human beings like you and me.
“As we thank God for the gift of the priesthood, I want to urge you that we your priest need your prayers who could be subjected to anything. The best thing to gift to your priest is prayers. The priest is a human being like another human being, a special being that has been placed as a treasure and gift from God.
“My 25 years as a Priest, I’m very sure that I have spent at least one-day with you. In the course of our interactions, a lot of things might have happened. We thank God we didn’t break the tablet and moments of joy and celebration.
“Within the context of the work we are doing, success is what we are celebrating. Success is concrete. The life of one person that changes is a huge success. Let us come together and allow ourselves to be used by God.
“We can achieve a lot individually and collectively to transform the society. I want to thank you for the opportunity to come together and have this mass of thanksgiving. Let us constitute ourselves as the seed God has planted.”Excitement as JDPI Ekiti celebrates Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Akingbade on 25th Priesthood Anniversary
