JDPI DIRECTOR CALLS FOR COMMON GOAL FOR IBADAN PROVINCE’S RUDEPS.

The Director of Justice, Development and Peace Initiative (JDPI), Catholic Diocese of Ekiti, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Akingbade has advocated for a common goal for the Rural Development Programmes (RUDEP), being sponsored by MISEREOR, Germany, under the Ibadan Province comprising Justice, Development and Peace Commission (JDPC), Ibadan; Justice, Development and Peace Maker Centre (JDPMC), Osogbo; Justice, Development and Peace Movement (JDPM), Oyo; Justice, Development and Peace Initiative (JDPI), Ekiti and Justice, Development and Peace Mission (JDPM), Ilorin.

The Director made the call while welcoming the RUDEP teams in the province to its 3-day quarterly Provincial Exchange Forum, at the office of Justice, Development and Peace Initiative, Catholic Diocese of Ekiti, Bishop’s House, Ajilosun, Ado Ekiti from Wednesday 21st June to Friday 23rd June, 2023.

Fr. Akingbade added that MISEREOR is one body that is contributing to food production in Nigeria through the various RUDEP teams in the province and so coming together and making field visits of the teams should be to enrich ideas, hence the Director advised the RUDEP teams against being economical with information sharing, so as to enrich their various projects. “If a project written in a diocese is good, nothing bad if another diocese replicates same in its diocese.”

Fr. Emmanuel Akingbade, who is also the Chairman of the Coordinators in the province urged the participants to pay attention to what they are learning from the provincial exchange forum, what they are going to do with the information gathered at PEF and what each diocese will go and do differently after the PEF in their respective dioceses.

The RUDEP teams appreciated the JDPI Director for his words of advice and also appealed that the teams will need the assistance of their respective Directors during their advocacy visits to institutions and some stakeholders so as to be able to enjoy prompt response from such institutions and stakeholders towards achieving their various projects’ objectives.

Fr. Akingbade said the RUDEP teams’ request will be discussed in the meeting of the Coordinators in a week’s time. He wished the teams a successful deliberation and also blessed them.

Other activity on the first day of the meeting includes step down of update on MISEREOR’s new funding format & report writing by Mr Alaba Ogunbosoye.

Earlier, the Head of the Program, RUDEP, JDPI, Mrs. Janet Awotiku had welcomed all the RUDEP teams from their respective dioceses and wished them a happy stay and deliberation in Ekiti Diocese.
