JDPI Ekiti Mobilizes Organic Farmers’ Association to Launching of 2023 Farming Season

Justice, Development and Peace Initiative, JDPI, of the Catholic Diocese of Ekiti joined Farmers’ Groups in the state at the Launching of the 2023 Farming Season.

The event which held on Tuesday, 6th June, 2023 at Ekiti Parapo Pavilion, had in attendance, the Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji and other dignitaries.

The event equally had in attendance, JDPI Ekiti who mobilized members of Ekiti Organic Farmers’ Association through the Head, Department of Rural Development Program, Mrs Janet Awotiku.

JDPI has always promote the consumption of organic food which are healthier and more productive with increased income.

Other benefits of consuming organic food are; it stores longer on shelve, naturally nutritious, reduces health hazards, heals the body, safe and free of pesticide etc.

Meanwhile, the farmers’ representatives at the launching thanked the governor for his interventions so far in agriculture in the area of inputs and tractorization. 

They urged the state government to pay attention to the security of farms and farmers and the deplorable state of roads to farms which affects the transportation of farm produce to the markets in the state.

Governor Oyebanji acknowledged the farmers challenges and promised his administration’s commitment to alleviating their challenges.

The governor pointed to FADAMA CARES office which serves as the government’s extension agency through which the farmers could be reached.

Cheques were presented to some beneficiaries of FADAMA groups and cooperative societies after which the Governor took photographs with different farmers’ groups as well as went round to see the exhibited farm produce/products at the event, while the farmers explained some of their produce/products and their benefits to consumers.
